Medical Student at Western University
Gregory Anagnostopoulos is a third-year medical student at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at Western University in London, Ontario. He completed his undergraduate degree at McMaster University, earning an Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences (BHSc). As a proud Greek-Canadian, Gregory has been involved in the Greek Community of Toronto from a young age, participating in Greek school, Greek dance, and cultural events. At Western, he is an active member of the Western Hellenic Society. His roots trace to a village near Kalamata on his father’s side and Athens on his mother’s. Gregory has traveled to Greece many times to visit family and strengthen his connection to his heritage.
Gregory has a strong interest in medical research and community health, particularly in cancer and stem cell donation. He is an active volunteer with the Stem Cell Branch of Canadian Blood Services, organizing swabbing drives at universities across Ontario. He also worked with Canadian Blood Services on a pilot project testing the impact of a community-led approach to donor recruitment, focusing on the Greek community. As part of the project, he hosted a successful stem cell drive at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Toronto, raising awareness and registering new donors.
As a director of the Canadian Hellenic Medical Society, Gregory is dedicated to promoting health within the Hellenic community and supporting mentorship and collaboration among Greek medical professionals and students across Canada.
