Adolescent Medicine Specialist
Lecturer, Department of Pediatrics, University of Toronto
Dr. Maria Psihogios received her Medical Doctorate from the University of Ottawa. She then went on to complete her residency in Pediatrics through McGill University at the Montreal Children’s Hospital. Pursuing her passion for supporting adolescents at the intersection of their physical and mental health needs, she then completed her fellowship in Adolescent Medicine at The Hospital for Sick Children of Toronto, through the University of Toronto. As a new staff Adolescent Medicine Specialist, she was the founding physician of the Child & Adolescent Eating Disorders Program at Michael Garron Hospital, the first funded program of its kind to serve the community of east Toronto. She currently serves youth with eating disorders, and their families, in both outpatient and inpatient settings. She also has a busy general adolescent medicine practice focused on supporting, and caring for, the unique physical, emotional and developmental needs of youth.
Dr. Psihogios is deeply connected to and proud of her Hellenic roots; her grandparents immigrated from Sparta, Laconia, Greece in the 19050s to Montreal, where she was born and raised. Together with her husband, she now calls East Toronto home. She cherishes time spent with family and friends around the table, laughing, sharing stories and enjoying home cooked meals full of love. She is an aficionada of finding beauty in life’s small moments; sunshine filled mornings, freshly baked bread, good literature and a simple shot of espresso.
